Tomeka Reid Quartet (USA)
American musician Tomeka Reid is a composer, cellist, curator, and educator, and she also holds a doctorate in musicology from the University of Illinois.
At Kirjurinluoto, audiences will hear the Tomeka Reid Quartet, a modern jazz ensemble featuring guitarist Mary Halvorson, bassist Jason Roebke, and drummer Tomas Fujiwara. The quartet’s debut album was released in 2015, and their latest recording, Dance! Skip! Hop!—released earlier this year—is the group’s fourth album.
Tomeka Reid is also a festival director. She founded the Chicago Jazz String Summit, an international gathering for leading string players in jazz.
