Kaisa’s Machine ”Moving Parts” (FIN/DK/USA)
Kaisa Mäensivu is one of the major future names in Finnish jazz. She began her studies at the Sibelius Academy before moving to New York to continue her education, eventually settling in the metropolis. In addition to leading her own band, the double bassist performs with numerous ensembles both in Finland and around the world.
With Kaisa’s Machine, Mäensivu has found the best possible way to realize her musical vision. The group, founded in 2015, released its debut album In the Key of K in 2017, presenting Mäensivu’s compositions and showcasing her mature take on modern jazz. In New York, she has discovered a new, personal direction for her music—one that highlights storytelling, strong compositional focus, and the double bass in a leading role.
The band’s third album, Moving Parts, was released on March 14, 2025, on the prestigious American label Greenleaf Music, earning praise in both domestic and international media.
