Jazz Suomi 100 Nyt! (FI)
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Finnish jazz. In the summer of 1926, the ship Andania arrived in Helsinki, bringing Finnish Americans from New York on a visit to Finland. The orchestra on board played jazz and also performed, among other places, in Helsinki restaurants. To celebrate this milestone year, saxophonist Mikko Innanen has assembled a special anniversary ensemble. Its repertoire consists of compositions by Finnish jazz musicians that reflect different eras and stylistic directions of jazz.
