Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chris Potter, Larry Grenadier & Eric Harland: First Meeting

Cuban‑born pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba made his first appearance at Pori Jazz in the summer of 1986 with the group Grupo Proyecto. However, his Porijazz performances are best remembered for his collaboration with legendary bassist Charlie Haden on the Kirjurinluoto stage in 2005. Their joint recordings also earned them Grammy Awards, cementing their place among the great jazz partnerships.

This time in Pori, Rubalcaba will be joined by Grammy-winning and DownBeat magazine–honored saxophonist Chris Potter, widely regarded as one of the finest jazz musicians of our time. Potter has worked with major artists including Steely Dan, Herbie Hancock, and especially Dave Holland, further showcasing his exceptional versatility.

Rounding out the quartet are bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Eric Harland. Grenadier has performed with luminaries such as Pat Metheny, Charles Lloyd, and Brad Mehldau, while Harland has contributed to around 500 recordings and numerous film soundtracks, making him one of the most prolific drummers in modern jazz.
