Fred Hersch Trio (USA)

Fred Hersch is a long‑time jazz pianist and composer who has recorded more than 70 of his own compositions. He has been an influential figure in the New York jazz scene, where his collaborators have included Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, Lee Konitz, and Charlie Haden.

Hersch’s trio features the versatile drum legend Peter Erskine, whose groups have included Weather Report, Steely Dan, and Steps Ahead. Erskine also has ties to Finland: he performed at Pori Jazz as early as 1985 with Steps Ahead, has taught in the Sibelius Academy’s jazz department, and has appeared as a guest with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
