Saimaa (FIN)

Matti Mikkola’s ensemble Saimaa embarks on a musical adventure that is free‑spirited, boundless and stylistically diverse. The group draws influences from classic rock, prog, folk and Finnish schlager, creating a sound that is approachable, catchy and full of energy. Their concerts highlight musical freedom, the joy of playing together and a strong atmosphere – elements that have made many of Saimaa’s shows sell out.

Saimaa has performed at Pori Jazz three times before: under its own name in 2016, and as part of the projects Pyhimys & Saimaa (2019) and Pepe & Saimaa (2023). All performances have been part of the festival’s main concert programme. This summer’s free‑admission concert is presented by Pori Jazz in cooperation with Satakunnan Osuuskauppa.
