bluesy global roots music
A heartfelt, deep, funny and fundamentally Newyorkian case that woos all kinds of root music from reggae, ska and country to klezmer and far-eastern styles to dance jazzified global boogie around solid old time blues. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience!
The reckless abandon of this earthy septet is marked by two dueling mouth harps, multi-dimensional horn section, bass lines drawn by a tuba player, exotic instruments, like sheng, claviola or cimbalom, and leader Wade Schuman’s raspy vocals that mix trippy humor with post-modernist philosophy in a very juicy manner.
So far Hazmat Modine has put out only one album. Featuring the top Mongolian throat-singing band Hun-Huur-Tu, Bahamut certainly is a killer that won’t fit into any box. Giving 110 % energy on stage, the band mainly plays original material, but may, if they feel that way, throw in a twisted version of some pearl by, say, Slim Gaillard or Irving Berlin.Members:
