The sensational child prodigy moved from Kirgistan to Kansas, USA, at 9. He got a recording contract from Sony Classical, when he was still under age. Now at 22 – several years and four albums later – Eldar plays extremely energetic post-bop on his latest CD Re-Imagination.
“Few musicians on any axe swing like Eldar. His groove is intense and overwhelming,” declared Downbeat in the 4 star review of his Live At The Blue Note album that features Roy Hargrove and Chris Botti. Downbeat then points out that only when the smoke of his pyrotechnics settles down, the listener becomes aware of the real substance behind his awesome technique. Now residing in New York City, Eldar names McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau as inspirations.
