If you name one artist that doesn't need an introduction, it's John Fogerty. With Creedence Clearwater Revival his songs turned into global folk music that speaks with its soulful melodies and no-nonsense rocking to people on all continents. Partly responsible is Fogerty's uniquely energetic voice. It sounds simultaneously angry, tight and joyous and it really kicks ass. You can't say no to it.
Creedence Clearwater Revival was officially born in 1967, but had already worked for years as The Golliwogs. Success, however, came to the band only as CCR - and there was lots! In five years they made nine albums and numerous hits, like Born On The Bayou, Proud Mary, Hey Tonight, Up Around The Bend and Have You Ever Seen The Rain.
When CCR split, Fogerty made first a country album as The Blue Ridge Rangers, but has since continued with nine solo records that stylistically follow CCR's lead. Best known of his solo career hits are Rocking All Over The World, Old Man Down The Road, Centerfield and Déjà Vu (All Over Again), which criticized America's attack on Iraq.
Now 65 and still a very intense live performer, John Fogerty tours actively around the world. He was inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005, while CCR got into R&R Hall of Fame in 1993.Members:
