modern R&B with pop & hip-hop influence
A song-writer, who runs his own studio and record label WLF Music, recently grabbed the microphone himself and turned into a modern R&B-singer with a pop-sensibility.
The Helsinki born and raised Vesa Matara alias Ves Rain plays keyboards and drums, but most of all he is an all-around music maker, whose influences come as much from the old school soul of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield as the poppier stylings of Prince, Sade and Maxwell not forgetting hip-hop by the likes of Nas and Tupac. His debut album, the self- produced, -arranged and -written One Step Closer filters from those inspirations a contemporary dreamy R&B sound underlined by jazzy instrumental solos and occasional raps.
