Several new international artists have been added to the Pori Jazz festival program. White Lies, Canned Heat and Rhye among others will grace the stages at the Kirjurinluoto Concert Park.
English band White Lies got a blazing career start when the debut album “To Lose My Life” made it to the top of the charts in UK in the end of the last decade. Their gloomy and dark pop sound, that owes much to Joy Division and Depeche Mode, made an impression to Finnish audience as well and even more so after their energetic concerts. Their latest album “Friends” was released last October. White Lies will perform at Kirjurinluoto on Saturday, July 15th.
Argentinian-Swedish José Gonzáles is known for his delicate and simplified folk-pop. He will perform at Kirjurinluoto on Friday, July 14th as well as American band Rhye that combines elements of r&b, electronic music and soul. Their album “Woman” released back in 2013 can deservedly be declared as one of the classics of the current decade.
Canned Heat is one of the most legendary bands and a cult-icon of American blues and boogie-rock. Their greatest hits include well-loved songs such as Going Up The Country, On The Road Again and Let’s Work Together. Canned Heat performed at the Woodstock back in 1969 and of that line-up drummer Fito de la Parra along with bassist Larry “The Mole” Taylor are still with the band. The band has decided to do one more European tour and Pori Jazz is more than happy to host their concert in Finland.
