The 53rd Pori Jazz Festival took place 13th - 22nd July 2018. Main concerts gathered 57,000 visitors in Kirjurinluoto Concert Park over the weekend.
The most popular day of the festival was Saturday 21st, starred by Alanis Morissette. Despite the unstable weather conditions, 21,000 fans showed up on the final Main concert day. Both Thursday 19th and Friday 20th attracted 18,000 festival-goers.
Several unforgettable moments were had with such stars as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Vijay Iyer Sextet and the legendary Burt Bacharach. Other honorable mentions go to Jessie Ware, KNOWER, and Vintage Trouble for their powerful live performances.
The festival program extended from the ticketed Main Concerts to an extensive free program in the brand new Jazz Park where tens of artists and bands played for nine consecutive days.
Jazz Park was highly praised by visitors which came across in several comments and a public survey operated by Pori Jazz. The festival organisation already has plenty of ideas to further develop the free Jazz Park for next year’s festival. Not only was the audience happy to visit Jazz Park but the musicians also gave lots of positive feedback for this new free venue.
Pori Jazz Festival will take place for the 54th time in July 2019. Official dates will be released later this year.
