American pianist Carla Bley has had to cancel all her programmed gigs for the summer including her appearance at Pori Jazz. Bley is experiencing some problems with her health and doctors have forbidden her from flying.
Carla Bley and trio were scheduled for Saturday 21st July. This gap in the programme will be filled by a Finnish ensemble, Emma Salokoski & Ilmiliekki Quartet who will be playing brand new songs on Lokki Stage in Kirjurinluoto. Salokoski and her superb quartet Ilmiliekki will be releasing a new album this fall, which will comprise of songs composed to Fenno-Swedish poems. The album is follow-up to the praised "Vi sålde våra hemman" which was launched almost a decade ago. Ilmiliekki Quartet comprises of Verneri Pohjola (trumpet), Tuomo Prättälä (paino), Antti Lötjönen (basso) and Olavi Louhivuori (drums).
Pori Jazz apologises for the sudden change in the programme and wishes a quick recovery to Carla Bley.
