Nine artists have been added to Pori Jazz main concerts. Latest additions include American artist Aloe Blacc who was featured on recently deceased Swedish producer Avicii’s greatest hit ”Wake Me Up”. Other additions include Terje Rypdal Conspiracy and Teosto Awarded Joona Toivanen Trio.
Aloe Blacc last performed at Pori Jazz in 2011 when he wasn’t yet the household name he is nowadays. In 2013 he rose to international stardom when his co-operation single “Wake Me Up” with recently deceased Swedish dj Avicii suddenly hit the top of the charts in several countries. Aloe Blacc’s soulful voice was one of the key factors within the hit song and he also co-wrote the song. He’s released three studio albums of which the latest Lift Your Spirit (2013) was nominated for Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
Aloe Blacc will perform at Pori Jazz on Friday, July 20th. Other additions to Friday’s program are British band Jungle and Teosto Awarded Finnish Joona Toivanen Trio.
On Thursday, July 19th Pori Jazz will host Terje Rypdal, one of Norway’s most prominent jazz musicians, who will perform in Pori after several years. The renowned guitarist will present his new band Conspiracy featuring Danish trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg. Other additions to Thursday’s program include Americana, country and folk influenced British newcomer Jade Bird and rarely seen but highly coveted Finnish jazz ensemble Mikko Innanen 10+.
Finnish pop sensation Vesta will perform at Pori Jazz on Saturday, July 21st. Her debut album Lohtulauseita has gained rave reviews. Other new additions include British singer Zara McFarlane and Finnish jazz icon Iro Haarla who will present her brand new quartet at the festival.
Previously announced Pori Jazz 2018 artists include Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Alanis Morissette, James Blunt, Katie Melua and Burt Bacharach. New acts performing at the main concerts will be released during forthcoming weeks.
