James Blunt, Katie Melua and other new confirmations

British star James Blunt includes Pori Jazz within his 2018 world tour. Other new additions include Katie Melua, Jess Glynne and Tower of Power.

James Blunt is one of UK’s most successful artists. His concert at Pori Jazz on Friday, July 20th is a part of his The Afterlove world tour. He made his international breakthrough with his debut album Back to Bedlam and has since sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. His greatest hits include “You’re Beautiful”, “Bonfire Heart”, “Goodbye My Lover” and “1973”. James Blunt performed at Pori Jazz back in 2014 and made a lasting impression to his adoring audience. At the end of his concert, he even stage-dived from the Pori Jazz main stage – a stunt that's very rarely seen at Pori Jazz.

Georgian born Katie Melua is nowadays hailing from UK. She was only 19 years old when her debut album Call of the Search made it to the top of the British charts. Her later albums have been equally successful making her the best selling female artists in Europe at one point. She is known for her beautiful voice and folk-pop songs and has released seven albums that have sold more than 11 million copies. Katie Melua will play songs covering her entire career with her band performing on Saturday, July 21st.

Radio hits, soul and funk

British artist Jess Glynne got a stellar start to her career when she was featured on Clean Bandit’s international super hit "Rather Be". In 2015 Glynne became the second female artist in history managing to make it to the top of the British single lists with five songs. Her debut album I Cry When I Laugh managed to grace the British album charts for over 100 weeks. She’s currently working on her second album and is featured at Rudimental’s internationally acclaimed song “These Days”. Jess Glynne will perform at Pori Jazz on Friday, July 20th.

American soul and funk icon Tower of Power is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Over the years more than 60 musicians have played in Tower of Power and their level of artistic excellence has always been top notch. Emilio Castillo, David Garibaldi and Doc Kupka are the core of the band and at the moment their lead singer is Marcus Scott. It’s been quite awhile since Tower of Power last visited Pori Jazz, but the festival audience has constantly requested them. The long wait is finally over as the fans will be pampered with a party boosting performance on Friday, July 20th.
