Canadian superstar Alanis Morissette will perform at Pori Jazz on Saturday, July 21st. Other new additions to the festival program include Robert Glasper’s ensemble R+R=NOW, British artist Jessie Ware, American band Cigarettes After Sex and long-term jazz composer-pianist Carla Bley.
Singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette rose to international superstardom in 1995, when she released her third studio album Jagged Little Pill. The album became a worldwide success and the hit tracks including ”Ironic”, ”You Oughta Know” and ”Hand In My Pocket” were heard on radio and music video channels for quite some time. So far over 33 million copies of Jagged Little Pill have been sold and it is one of the worlds most sold albums ever.
Canadian Morissette has released eight studio albums and is also known as an actress. She has been featured in successful TV-series such as Weeds and Sex And The City as well as in the movie Dogma. Morissette has sold over 60 million albums and won seven Grammy awards. She’s active in social debate and is an advocate promoting women’s rights. At the moment Morissette is working on her latest album, which is set to be released during 2018.
Alanis Morissette has performed in Finland only once before.
Tickets for the Pori Jazz main concert on Saturday, July 21st will be available on Monday, February 19th at 9 am. Daily tickets for all Pori Jazz main concerts are available until March 31st for a special reduced price when S-Etukortti card is presented upon purchase. Reduced price tickets are starting from 72 Euros (incl. Ticketmaster’s service fee); regular tickets are starting from 78 Euros (incl. Ticketmaster’s service fee). Three-day tickets entitling entrance to all three main concerts are also available as well as daily premium quality VIP and Radio Aalto Lounge tickets.
New acts added to all main concerts
In addition to Alanis Morissette other new acts at Pori Jazz festival 2018 include super band R+R=NOW performing on Friday, July 20th. Keyboardist-producer Robert Glasper’s new band brings together some of the most sought after names of current jazz, including producer-saxophonist Terrace Martin, trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Ajuah, and multi-instrumentalist Taylor McFerrin.
Other additions to Saturday, July 21st include British singer Jessie Ware, who is nominated for female artist of the year at the BRIT Awards next week. Also performing on Saturday is iconic jazz pianist and composer Carla Bley (81 years old) with her trio.
Pori Jazz has previously announced that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will be performing on Thursday, July 19th. A new addition to the concert is Cigarettes After Sex, whose strong debut album made it to several best albums of the 2017 lists.
53rd Pori Jazz will be held from July 14th to 22nd. Festival program will be updated and new acts released during forthcoming weeks.
