The change of the millennium was an era when the surfaces of jazz and electronic music were actively charted. One of the most pivotal pioneers was The Cinematic Orchestra lead by Jason Swinscoe. Their album “In Motion” by Ninja Tune Records back in 1999 was instantly acclaimed as a milestone of its genre. The Cinematic Orchestra is known for its distinctive sound, which originally was based on samples complied by Swinscoe. The band then improvised upon the rhythms and bass lines of these samples. The Cinematic Orchestra has performed in Finland only once before, at Ilosaarirock back in 2007. The timing for their concert in Pori Jazz is quite propitious as they’re working on their new album. The first single “To Believe” of the forthcoming album was released in autumn 2016.
