Though Julian Lage will celebrate his 30th birthday at the end of this year, he’s already been a professional musician for over two decades. How is this possible? Well, this bright young American guitarist rose to stardom as a child genius at the age of 8 when he jammed with Carlos Santana and an Academy Award nominated document “Jules at Eight” was produced. He’s collaborated with the likes of Gary Burton, Jim Hall and Nels Cline. On his first albums he focused on the acoustic guitar but his most recent album Arclight released in 2016 featured his awesome skills on electric guitar – on Fender Telecaster to be more precise. This effortlessly brilliant album features echoes of Bill Frisell’s recent works and thus it’s even more inspiring to be able to hear both of these amazing guitarists of different generations on the same concert day at Pori Jazz.
