American band Hurray for the Riff Raff has been gaining fan base and attention for several years now. Singer Alynda Seganda ran away from home at the age of 17 and travelled around USA before settling down in New Orleans. Hurray for the Riff Raff’s first albums featuring rooted contemporary music were based on her experiences on the road. For their most recent album Seganda chose to take a new direction and got in touch with her own roots. The result was a concept album with Puerto Rican oriented folk-punk musician as the main character having great adventures in the streets of New York. Taking this chance truly paid off, as the album soon became one of the most praised albums of 2017. The band will play in Finland for the very first time at Pori Jazz next summer.
