Devandra Banhart’s concert in Finland is definitely long awaited, as the American-Venezuelan artist has been a somewhat iconic character for over 15 years. Banhart is often considered as an envoy of the New Weird America genre and he has released nine studio albums of which the latest one, Ape in Pink Marble was released in 2016. He is known as a colourful and restless artist, whose music can be described as alternative and psychedelic folk. He’s compared to legends such as Tim Buckley, Syd Barrett and Mark Boland and traces of klezmer, Brazilian rhythms, jazz and country can also be heard within his music. Both critics and enthusiastic music fans love him and on Thursday, July 13th he will finally make his debut in Finland.
